Over the years, this house was home to a few very happy dogs and cats who were lavished with several amenities that would make all their friends very jealous. Among these is an enormous, 1100 square foot natural kennel area. Access to it is through a gate to the side of the house in the hot tub area. Two latchable/lockable pet doors allow the dog to pass from the house into a large storage closet (which can serve as a dog house), and from the storage closet into the kennel. This allows the dog to take care of its business while you are away or asleep. An enormous maple provides ample shade and shelter. The outer fence of the kennel is 8' high chain link with an upper lip to prevent climbing. Stones around the base discourage digging. (The kennel was constructed for a very skillful dog indeed!) The area is carpeted with coarse pine bark mulch for cleanliness.

If your dog isn't too ambitious, you can also let it roam the huge back yard, which is fully fenced with 5' chain link. The front fence is lower but still effective with many dogs, provided the front gate is kept closed.

If you have indoor cats, you can rest assured that the kennel area would be very difficult for any animal to escape, so it is a very safe place for your kitty to get some sunshine and hunt an occasional bug. Inside, there is a cat door leading to a litter box area next to the furnace, keeping the box out of sight and away from sensitive noses. There is also a cat door from the hallway into the master bedroom, so that your cat will never get locked in or out and so that she can come and go at night, even when the bedroom door is closed.
