Master Bedroom
|
From the moment you enter the first floor door to the master bedroom, you realize it is designed for comfort and privacy. Even if you keep your bedroom door open, nobody can see into the bedroom without ascending the staircase. This shot gives a good view of the brand new berber carpeting. It also shows how light and bright even the darkest nooks are.

The master suite is designed with elegance in mind. The design philosophy emphasizes lightness and airiness. The light olive walls coordinate with the golden green light filtering through the large maple tree, and the wallpaper repeats the theme of the foliage that is all around. The new carpet has subtle greenish flecks to tie together with the color theme, while maintaining enough neutrality to coordinate well with almost any style of furniture. This view shows the 12V halogen spot lighting, separated into two lighting zones and controlled by dimmers.

This room is as functional as it is beautiful, with ample built-in shelving in the bedroom and walk-in closet. Note the two, large, 4'x4' skylights overhead. Also note the elevated privacy windows on the far wall that provide light, air, and view, while not compromising privacy (even with the curtains open). The room has four total casement windows, on opposite sides of the room, providing perfect flow-through ventillation on cool nights. Total window area in the master bedroom is approx. 95 sf.

The light through the skylights creates beautiful lines and angles against the geometrically complex walls. Shown here is the programmable thermostat, which controls the heating/airconditioning system on the west end of the home.

One of the prettier features of the master suite is the airy balcony which overlooks the hot tub area. The cotton drapes have an elegant weave and frame the windows very softly.

The planter on the balcony rail brings spring right into the bedroom.
